The Baba Tree Basket Co is focussed on preserving the culture of basket-weaving in Gurunsi community in Bolgatanga, Ghana by partnering directly with over 250 individual artisans. That means a 15% commission on the purchase of a piece goes directly to the artisan who made it, in addition to what was paid for production. Each piece is entirely handmade and unique. While keeping in touch with tradition and old basket-weaving techniques, new materials and techniques are developed organically over time, allowing for the creation of new forms, like enormous, amoeba-shaped baskets. Or boldly-patterned fans.
The Bolga fan isn’t just functional as a fan. We see it as a work of art, deserving of a place on the wall of your home, or as a special gift to a friend.
